Starting as a mobile trailer in 2023 and opening her 6th Street location in August 2025, Shandi Long’s popularity has grown quickly over the last couple of years. Shandi’s is a dessert shop offering a wide variety of dessert options, including ice cream, sundaes, seasonal extreme shakes, coffee, and flavors of hot cocoa and lemon shake-ups.

–Shandi LongHer business is family-run and operated. Shandi shares, “We are super kid- and family-friendly. We love the interaction with everyone and their faces when they experience the Extreme Shakes.” What started as a weekend hobby has rapidly changed into what it is today. At this point in running her business, one of Shandi’s biggest achievements has been being featured on TikTok food critic, GrazingGuse’s page, which has over 40,000 followers. When asked “what would you say to others who are considering becoming an entrepreneur”, Shandi stated:

QUINCY, IL — Stroll through The Heart of Quincy as you partake in The District’s 2025 Progressive Dinner. This once popular District event will be held on Thursday, June 5 and showcases four popular downtown spaces and four eateries. Dinner event spaces include The Armory, 416 Jersey, Wine Gal Meets Whiskey Guy, 119 North 4th, One Event Venue, 600 Hampshire, and The Pour Haus, 625 Maine. Dining establishments include Highly Flavored Catering, Platt Daddy BBQ, Thai D’Lish, and Krazy Cakes. Tickets for this unique and delicious event are $50 per person and go on sale April 1. “This is a beloved and highly anticipated event within The District, we are excited to bring it back. The last Progressive Dinner was held in 2019,” stated The District Executive Director Brianna Rivera. “Generally, tickets sell out very quickly. Dinner courses begin at 5:30pm at The Armory, and will feature charcuterie boards by Highly Flavored Catering.
The second course, heavy appetizers by Platt Daddy BBQ, will be held at Wine Gal Meets Whiskey Guy, at 6:15pm.
Diners will then head to One Event Venue for the third course and to enjoy heavy appetizers by Thai D’Lish at 7:00pm.
The evening of dining will conclude with desserts from Krazy Cakes at 7:45pm at The Pour Haus.
Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at The Armory, Wine Gal Meets Whiskey Guy, One Event Venue, and The Pour Haus.

The District encourages everyone to mark their calendars for their next Shop Local Saturday event–Summer Sidewalk Sales–on Saturday, August 9 from 10am-3pm at participating District businesses. While every Saturday is a chance to discover the heart and soul of The District, the special-themed Shop Local Saturdays like this one, offers the opportunity for more than a traditional shopping trip.
As summer begins to wind down and back-to-school shopping ramps up, this is a great opportunity for both businesses and shoppers. “In addition to retail businesses, The District is filled with a variety of coffee shops, cafés, and restaurants, which are also encouraged to participate with specials,” stated District Executive Director Brianna Rivera. “We anticipate shoppers will find great deals, special promotions, and experience a fun day of shopping at businesses located in The Heart of Quincy.” This year’s event is based on the motto – Stroll the sidewalks, shop local, and soak up the summer vibes — you never know what treasures you’ll find!
The District Shop Local Saturdays include special themes that encourage not only shoppers to shop but also business owners to participate. From Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Sidewalk Sales, to Shop Small Saturday in November and Holiday-themed shopping events in December, these special Saturdays are the perfect opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends while supporting local businesses.
