Sunday Music Series Concert

Sunday Music Series returns for its 2026-27 season with its opening concert featuring Doris Sanders and friends at the First Christian Church (1415 Maine St., Quincy) at 4 pm on Sunday, August 23.

The recital is titled "Nature Inspired" and consists of four sections: “The Heavens and the Earth,” “Night and Day,” “The Flora, Fauna and the Birds of the Air,” and “The Seasons.”

Familiar songs include the Italian classic, “O Sole Mio,” Broadway hit, “O What a Beautiful Morning,” from Oklahoma, Opera classics including “What Good Would the Moon Be,” from Street Scene, “Must the Winter Come so Soon,” from Vanessa and pop classic, “The Green Green Grass of Home.” It will conclude with “He's Got the Whole World in His Hand.”

Ms. Sanders will be accompanied by pianist Tina Bunte, and mezzo-soprano and flutist Lisa Blake.

Sanders has participated as a frequent artist in Sunday Music Series, participates in Quincy Symphony Chorus and Encore!, Karing Kommunity Khoir, and has appeared on stage with Muddy River Opera Company and Quincy Community Theatre. She holds a degree from Illinois Wesleyan University with a major in Pipe Organ, a minor in voice, and a minor in theatre.

Sanders is the Music Director at Union United Methodist Church (1101 State St.) in Quincy. Bunte is the accompanist at the church as well. Blake is the Band and Choral Director at Knox County R1 at Edina. Mo and on the voice Faculty at Culver Stockton University.
