Light the Park

2026 DATE/INFO TO COME SOON!
Washington Park • 5:30-8:30pm

The District invites everyone to its Annual Light the Park ceremony! Come join us as Santa Claus, led by Vancil dancers, wraps up the Rotary After Dark “A Storybook Christmas” parade, and flips the switch to turn on the Christmas lights in Washington Park. Approximate time of the lighting of the park will be shortly after 6pm. This free community event is presented by TNT Golf Car & Motorsports and Craig Industries.

“Each year the Light the Park committee comes together to plan this wonderful family-focused event,” stated Executive Director of The District Brianna Rivera. “This year, new lighting displays have been added not just to Washing Park, but to light poles–stretching from 4th to 12th Streets down Maine–will be donned with festive lights and greenery.”

Adults and children alike will enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas during this event. In addition to visiting with Santa from 6-8:30, Light the Park attendees will enjoy free hot cocoa and cookies from Kohl Wholesale, live music will be provided by Quincy Concert Band Low Brass Ensemble, and character cutouts will be available for selfies. Lyon’s Pride will provide additional holiday music to complete the magically lit scene.

As in years past, The District is once again teaming up with Toys for Tots and encourages everyone who attends to bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate to their toy drive. “We know families are struggling and this is a simple way to help children have a wonderful Christmas,” stated Rivera. All who donate gifts will be entered to win one of two $30 District gift certificates.

Santa will return to Washington Park each Thursday in December–4, 11, and 18—5-7pm. “Santa in The Park, formerly known as Thursdays in The Park, gives children three additional opportunities to visit with Santa and for families to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
