Blues In The District, a beloved tradition in Quincy, IL, draws music lovers together to celebrate the soulful, emotional, and electrifying sounds of the Blues. This year, BagLunch Blues Band is set to take the stage in Washington Park as the inaugural band for the 2025 concert series. On Friday, June 13 the band will be bringing their unique style and energy to the Heart of Quincy.
Family Entertainment will be available 5:30-8:30pm under the Blessing Tent. Activities sponsored by Blessing Health System in partnership with Quincy Children’s Museum.

Bag Lunch Blues Band has a great time together performing Hip Shakin’, Juke Joint Jumpin’, House Rockin’ Blues so you can put on your party dress, high heeled sneakers, let your hair down and your fancy flow. The Band is comprised of Mike Edsel, Mike Spina, Howard Young, Paul Cockrum, Tony Anthonis.

Mike Wheeler has a vast knowledge of music and a voice that’s reminiscent of the late Sam Cooke. He can sing and play everything so well that you may forget what the original record even sounds like. From Jazz to Rock, from popular music to Top 40, he slides in and out of musical genres with sophistication, ease, and indulgence. Mike Wheeler is a brilliant staple in the Chicago blues community, playing and writing songs for a variety of Chicago artists.
The Mike Wheeler Band consists of Mike Wheeler (guitar and vocals), Larry Williams (bass and vocals), Cleo Cole (drums), and Jesse Lockridge (keyboards and vocals).

Scheduled for August 22 at Quincy’s Washington Park, this unforgettable concert promises a night of powerful performances, soulful guitar riffs, and dynamic showmanship. Whether you’re a longtime blues enthusiast or new to the genre, this event is a must-see.While Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials have played the Chicago Blues Festival multiple times, the band has also appeared at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival, The Tampa Bay Blues Festival, The San Diego Blues Festival, The Pennsylvania Blues Festival and dozens of other festivals around the country. Satisfying worldwide demand, they have performed at music festivals in Canada, Great Britain, France, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Japan, Australia, India, Turkey and Panama.
With each album release, the band’s national and international stature grew as their fan base —known internationally as “Ed Heads”— continued to expand. Join The District and Blessing Health System as they present the 2025 Blues in the District series in Quincy’s Washington Park. The artist for July 25 – Dottie Kelly!
Dottie sang in a Baptist church, which is where she developed her talent for singing. She would later follow her Aunt Betty Padgett, a well-known singer out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, to her various shows. Aunt Betty Padgett eventually asked Dottie to sing background with her and Joey Gilmore.
From that point on, Dottie has traveled to various states, and opened for many artists from around the world. Those experiences mixed with pure raw talent, have made her a bona fide soul singer.

Blues In The District, a beloved tradition in Quincy, IL, draws music lovers together to celebrate the soulful, emotional, and electrifying sounds of the Blues. Rev. Raven & the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys will take the stage at 5:30pm on Friday, August 8 in Washington Park. The Reverend has opened for a variety of acts including B.B King, Gatemouth Brown, Pinetop Perkins, Lonnie Brooks, Lefty Dizz, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jeff Healy, and numerous others at festivals.
“This fifth concert in the Blues In The District series brings Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’g’ Altar Boys– a traditional Blues band with a lot of passion for the genre and performing,” stated Executive Director Brianna Rivera. “Concert goers can expect a great night of music. They play original songs with nods to Slim Harpo, Little Walter, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Junior Wells and the three Kings.” In addition to Blessing Health System in partnership with Quincy Children’s Museum children’s activities, families will enjoy food from two local establishments—JKW BBQ and Big Bro’s BBQ. TCBY will be in the park with frozen yogurt treats as well.
“Started in 1998, 2025 marks the 28th series of Blues In The District,” stated Executive Director Brianna Rivera. “This year’s line up is once again top notch. We look forward to seeing everyone enjoy this beloved tradition. We invite everyone to bring food and drinks, lawn chairs and friends for a great time in Washington Park.” The District reminds attendees that tents and glass containers are not allowed.
Blues In The District takes place the second and fourth Friday of June, July, and August. The final performers of the 2025 Blues In The District lineup will be Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials on August 22. Born and raised in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, the Reverend has been playing the blues since 1971 when he first saw Freddy King play at the Kinetic Theatre in Chicago. After a 16 year hitch in the Navy, Chief Raven moved to Milwaukee where he began a long friendship and collaboration with Madison Slim, long time harmonica player for Jimmy Rogers. Since 1990 he has opened for B.B King, Gatemouth Brown, Pinetop Perkins, Koko Taylor Band, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Lefty Dizz, Rod Piazza, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jeff Healy, and numerous others at festivals and at Buddy Guy’s Legends where he has been on rotation as a headliner for 20 years.
The band is comprised of Reverend Raven (guitar & vocals), Westside Andy (harmonica & vocals), Craig Panosh (drums), and P.T. Pedersen (bass).
