The District encourages everyone to mark their calendars for their next Shop Local Saturday event–Sidewalk Sales presented by First Bankers Trust Company–on Saturday, August 8. While every Saturday is a chance to discover the heart and soul of The District, the special-themed Shop Local Saturdays like this one, offers the opportunity for more than a traditional shopping trip.
“A big thank you goes out to our Shop Local Saturday – Sidewalk Sales Edition sponsor First Bankers Trust,” stated District Executive Director Brianna Rivera. “Not only does their sponsorship assist us in promoting this event and allowing it to be free for businesses to participate, but they have also supplied us with a limited number of reusable shopping totes.” Participating businesses will receive a stack of totes to give away to shoppers during the event.

As summer begins to wind down and back-to-school shopping ramps up, this is a great opportunity for both businesses and shoppers. “In addition to retail businesses, The District is filled with a variety of coffee shops, cafés, and restaurants, which are also encouraged to participate with specials,” stated Rivera. “We anticipate shoppers will find great deals, special promotions, and experience a fun day of shopping at businesses located in The Heart of Quincy.” This year’s event is based on the motto – Stroll the sidewalks, shop local, and soak up some of the final summer sun and energy — you never know what treasures you’ll find!
The District Shop Local Saturdays include special themes that encourage not only shoppers to shop but also business owners to participate. From Valentine’s Day (LOVE Edition), Mother’s Day (Mom Edition), and Summer Sidewalk Sales (Back-to-School Edition), to Shop Small Saturday in November and Holiday-themed shopping events in December, these special Saturdays are the perfect opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends while supporting local businesses.
