CELEBRATION, COMMUNITY, & CIGARS… The Luxe Stogie Co. Experience
More Info: CELEBRATION, COMMUNITY, & CIGARS… The Luxe Stogie Co. ExperienceHours Today: By appointment only

Tucked into 910 York Street, Luxe Stogie Co. is more than just a cigar shop—it’s a place where community, respect, and tradition meet. Owned by veteran Alex O’Neal, Luxe Stogie Co. blends a carefully curated retail experience with a welcoming lounge atmosphere, making it a destination for both seasoned cigar aficionados and those just beginning their journey.
The inspiration for Luxe Stogie Co. came in an unforgettable moment of celebration. After his son-in-law graduated from USMC Boot Camp in San Diego, Alex purchased two cigars so the two could mark the milestone together. That experience sparked a dream of creating his own cigar lounge—a vision he brought to life with determination and encouragement from his wife. After months of research and planning, he launched Luxe Stogie Co. in the fall of 2023.
Go for it! It’s very scary to start your own business, but when you set your mind to something and you give it your all, it’s an amazing journey.
Alex O’Neal, Luxe Stogie OwnerWhat sets Luxe Stogie apart is its unwavering commitment to respect and hospitality. “You show us respect, we show you respect,” Alex says. “We like to meet customers where they are in their life, whether they are just curious about cigars or are seasoned cigar smokers.” Luxe Stogie Co. takes pride in its Veteran-owned roots and carries a wide selection of high-quality cigars, including many from other veteran-owned companies. Every humidor is meticulously maintained to ensure customers enjoy the finest smoking experience possible.
The company’s growth has been remarkable. Luxe Stogie Co. began as a mobile-only lounge, traveling to events to introduce customers to its collection. By June 2024, the business had grown enough to open a brick-and-mortar retail space with a small public lounge. Just a year later, in spring 2025, Luxe Stogie Co. expanded its public lounge space. This fall, the business will complete Phase 3 of its expansion: a members-only lounge designed to offer an elevated and exclusive experience.
Alex is quick to credit the support of customers and fellow business owners for helping Luxe Stogie Co. grow faster than he ever imagined. His advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is simple but powerful. “Go for it! It’s very scary to start your own business, but when you set your mind to something and you give it your all, it’s an amazing journey.”
With its roots in respect, service, and community, Luxe Stogie Co. continues to thrive as Quincy’s go-to destination for quality cigars and good company.

CHEERS TO COMMUNITY The Story Behind Quincy Brewing Company
More Info: CHEERS TO COMMUNITY The Story Behind Quincy Brewing CompanyHours Today: By appointment only

At Quincy Brewing Company, every pint that’s poured is more than just a refreshing craft beer—it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and a long-awaited dream finally realized. As Quincy’s only craft brewery, QBCo takes pride in not only serving up delicious, small-batch brews but also in creating a space where neighbors become friends and memories are made.
For over a decade, Quincy had gone without a craft brewery. But after ten long years of waiting, Josh and Tierany Craig couldn’t wait any longer. Fueled by his passion for craft beer and the belief that Quincy deserved its own brewery, QBCo was born. Like many small businesses, the early days were shaped by the unexpected challenges of 2020 and the pandemic. But Quincy rallied around the Craigs. Through curbside pickups and to-go orders, the community made sure the beer kept brewing—and they’ve been growing ever since.
At the heart of QBCo is a mission to build community. “We aim to offer more than great beer—we want every guest, from the youngest root beer fan to the seasoned craft beer enthusiast, to feel welcome,” stated Tierany. Alongside the house-made root beer and creative experimental collaborations with local favorites, QBCo offers a friendly environment that brings people together.
We believe a vibrant community is built with intention—and a little fun
Tieraney CraigJust this past October (2024), QBCo celebrated its 5th birthday—five years of beer, laughter, growth, and gratitude. “Now, we’re excited to open our newest chapter,” stated Tierany. “The launch of our private event space!” Whether you’re marking a milestone or just want a space to gather with friends, QBCo is thrilled to provide a new way to celebrate life in Quincy.
“We believe a vibrant community is built with intention—and a little fun,” stated Tierany..”From our beloved Makers Markets (a collaboration with Fawn Berry that brings a unique, artisan street experience to downtown) to our biannual Downtown Cleanup events, we’re always finding ways to make Quincy even more special.” Monthly trivia nights, bingo, live music in The Garden, and its role in the development of the 6th Street Promenade are just a few of the ways the Craigs are helping to create a thriving downtown.
Starting something from scratch is never easy. Quincy Brewing Company faced its share of skepticism, but strong research, a solid business plan, and a whole lot of heart helped bring QBCo to life. “We’ve leaned on mentors, taken advice, and stayed true to our mission—and we’re thankful every day for the people and city that believed in us.”
So here’s to Quincy, to five years of craft beer and connection, and to many more to come. Cheers!

District Designs: More Than a Shop—It’s a Family
More Info: District Designs: More Than a Shop—It’s a FamilyHours Today: By appointment only

Located at 117 N. 4th Street in the Heart of Downtown Quincy, District Designs is more than just a shop—it’s a collaborative marketplace built on creativity, community, and connection. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am to 5pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 4 pm, this ever-evolving space offers something new with every visit.
District Designs is home to more than 15 vendors, each bringing their own unique style and story to the space. From artists and florists to collectors and small business owners, the shop showcases an eclectic mix of new, gently used, vintage, antique, repurposed, and handmade items. Shoppers can browse everything from furniture and home décor to glassware, collectibles, custom clothing, and one-of-a-kind treasures.
Owner Jeff Leech says the heart of District Designs lies in its people. “We truly operate as a vendor family. Our vendors pitch in time and/or money to staff and supply the shop—it’s a shared effort, and that’s what makes it special.”
That sense of collaboration has been part of the business from the beginning. What started as a vendor booth marketplace—open just a few weekends a month—quickly grew into something more as both customers and vendors wanted expanded hours and accessibility. “Ownership listened from the start,” Leech explains. “We evolved into a space where vendors support each other, even when they’re not on-site. That’s really when the family atmosphere was born—and we realized we genuinely enjoyed working together.”
Leech, who spent 35 years in the medical field before returning to the Midwest, saw District Designs as the perfect opportunity to tap into his creative side. “It has been my plan all along to get involved with a small business that allowed my creativity to show. The previous owners laid the foundation of a successful business—this business—and we’re proud to continue building on that.”
“If you believe in your product and surround yourself with the right people, then anything is possible.”
Jeff Leach, Owner/District DesignsCustomer experience is at the forefront of everything they do. Every visitor is welcomed warmly and treated like a friend, whether they make a purchase or not. “We want our customers to feel like our friends,” says Leech. “We listen, and where possible, we make changes or compromises to meet their needs.”
In a time when rising costs impact everyone, District Designs is committed to keeping items affordable and accessible. “We recognize the high cost of living,” Leech shares. “People should be able to have nice things without having to break the bank or sacrifice other necessities. Our team is made up of people who care.”
As the business continues to grow—just over a year old—District Designs is expanding its offerings and partnerships, including a recent collaboration with Shut Your Piehole Cheesecakes out of New London, Iowa and Dave’s Coffee Cakes out of Rock Falls, Illinois. New vendors and products are continually being welcomed into the fold, ensuring there’s always something fresh to discover.
With a loyal following—fondly known as “District Designers”—and a strong commitment to community, District Designs is a shining example of what can happen when creativity and collaboration come together.
“If you believe in your product and surround yourself with the right people,” Leech says, “then anything is possible.”

Enchanted Books
More Info: Enchanted BooksHours Today: By appointment only

In this Heart of Quincy Business Spotlight we highlight Enchanted Books. Enchanted Books is a new and used bookstore owned by Jennifer Tournear, a life-long avid reader who firmly believes in chasing dreams. “When the opportunity arose to try my hand at being a bookstore owner, I jumped in feet first and am thrilled to be celebrating our 2nd anniversary in April.”
Customer service is top priority for this District business. “We strive to make everyone who walks through the doors feel important, safe, and wanted.” Tournear and her team take pleasure in curating the perfect book for whatever customers are looking for. “We have learned through supply and demand what customers want, what they are looking for, and what we are lacking.” Over the past two years, Jennifer has listened to her customers and expanded the areas that customers are most interested in.
While owning a small business is a dream come true, it comes with its challenges. “Knowing which books to carry, what new releases to choose every week, and how to add fun and functional events to benefit the community to our store are three things I’m always looking at.” A new event that was held in February, Bookish Bingo, was so successful a second date in March was added. Events like these are what adds to the wonderful atmosphere and culture of The District.
While Enchanted Books is well-known for its large assortment of books and gifts, its storefront windows are what truly makes its first impression. At its annual meeting this past January, The District awarded Enchanted Books its Design Award. Each year a District business that takes pride in maintaining an interesting and inviting storefront is selected to receive this award that celebrates creativity, effort, and attention to detail in making downtown an attractive place.
When asked what advice she would give an aspiring entrepreneur Tournear stated, “Its very important to do your research, make a solid business plan, and do the things that you believe in your heart you were born to do.”
